I have been working with Nevaeh for the past 3 or 4 weeks on potty training. Needless to say, it has been tedious. Nevaeh has tinkled in the potty 4 or 5 times but on accident. I put her on the potty and she just so happens to go not because she tells me she needs to go. I have not been pressuring her at all. I put her on the potty about 3 times a day just so she can get used to sitting on it and she watches me on the John all day long... BUT tonight we had a break through!!!
I was going to put her in the shower but she decided that it would be much more fun to play with Kona instead, I didn't mind because he was making her sweat!! Anyway, I let her play and I went off to do some laundry while Jacob watched the Charger game. Then all of the sudden she runs up to Jacob and says "Oh no, hurry daddy, poo poo potty, come on", he puts her on her potty and SHE POOPED!! Believe it or not she did it all on her own!! Kids are simply amazing... they figure it all out on their own!! I hope this means she will have many more BMs in the potty than in her pull up! Yay for me!!

'Derella
Okay so why is my daughter acting like a 5-year-old instead of a 2-year-old? Yesterday she decided she needed to be called "derella" (Cinderella, that is) all day long... I would say "Nevaeh, come get some apple" and she would quickly reply, "NO, derella get some apple" and then I would have to repeat, "Cinderella, come get some apple." She would then run over to me (while shaking her toosh). Today she has decided I am Ariel and she is Cinderella... I don't know where she gets this stuff!! Well... we have read princess books to her and we have been to Disneyland about 6 times this year but really... it's that time already?
I know she has a great imagination, for example she feeds and talks to her blanket, but it seems as if she is getting so big so fast!! What happened to my little baby?

Busy
This weekend was fun but exhausting. Friday was Jacob's extra day off so he decided to go play golf... at 7 AM, what a freak!! Who gets up at that God forsaken hour when you don't have too? He actually left the house a quarter til 7. He ended up staying out until almost 11... who golfs for that long? Golf is Jacob new found sport, I got him a self of clubs for Father's day and he has been loving the sport ever since. My poor honey has working his little fingers to the bone since we decided I should stay home to raise our baby girl. He is exactly the kind of man I always wanted to marry... Nevaeh and I are two lucky, or should I say blessed, gals. Due to Jacob's extended golf game he and Nevaeh changed their bi-weekly breakfast date to a lunch date... she definitely did not mind!
That night we went to "Jazz in the park" in Carlsbad. We took a blanket, pizza and beer and listened to music while Nevaeh played in the sand. It was a lot of fun but a little overcrowded. Nevaeh and Jacob danced so much Nevaeh was ready to go home within 2 hours!!
Saturday morning I drove up to L.A. for my sister, Alex's surprise baby shower. I don't know how Moni and I pulled it off but we did somehow!! Our friend Vere helped us set up and she provided the spectacular prizes, which everyone was fighting for ;-). Moni and I were running around cleaning and setting up right up until Alex showed up. I invited my friend from college, Claudia, super last minute... as in during my drive down to L.A. to my surprise she actually showed it. We don't get to see each other very often but when we do you would never know it has been years since the last time we hung out!! (The last time I saw her was at my baby shower!!). She is super sweet and I am very grateful she showed up... I am very grateful everyone showed up to make Alex feel so special.
Sunday morning, we stayed in doors while it POURED outside.. yep you read that correctly it POURED in southern Cali!! It only rained for 3 or 4 hours but it rained. It was a nice change until it stopped raining and the humidity set in. We managed to get ourselves to church and just chilled the rest of the day.
I continued to read my book, Frankenstein, alone because Jacob decided early on that he didn't understand it!! It is my all time favorite book so I had to read it again... and I am remembering vividly why I absolutely love it!! (If you haven't read it you should!!)
Anyway that was it for our weekend...

My Nevaeh... what a cutie pie!!
Today is my weekly "cleaning day"... so I woke up made myself coffee and began cleaning. I dusted and mopped under the couches and behind the TV. I mopped the kitchen floor and then Nevaeh woke up. She helped me vacuum but then she decided to take over "cleaning day" so I gladly decided to stop. We met Maria, Andy and Matt at the Farmer's Market but poor Matt had had enough in his stroller so he was having a fit!! We left pretty quickly and only purchased some fresh beautiful flowers! Then we headed to the gym for a nice quick jog.
Okay, so the cutest things happened today. The first...Nevaeh was in my bedroom playing with stuff she isn't supposed to touch so needless to say she was having a ball!! When I walked in she had Jacob's earpiece (for his cell phone) around her neck. I told her she needed to take it off and put it back where she found it. She kept saying "no mommy, Vee-nah dotter", I didn't understand so I repeated, "take it off now" then I realized she was saying she was a DOCTOR!! How cute is that... she hung it around her neck and was using the part you put in your ear as a stethoscope. She was checking her teddy bears tummy and asking him if it hurt!! I don't know but I think my daughter is a genius!! She surprises me every single day.
Well the second thing is almost a little embarrassing!! After a quick trip to the gym, Nevaeh and I went to Michael's, as we were waiting at the light she pointed at the infamous red bull’s-eye and was saying "Taget", yep, it is true... I shop there way too often. My two year old knows about Target!! The worst part was she kept telling me she wanted to go to Target!!!
I weighed myself this morning at the gym and I lost ONLY ONE pound... how could that be!! I have been working out at least 4 times a week for the past 6 weeks or so!! I may not be eating extremely well but wouldn't the extra cardio help me shed several pounds? Obviously not!! I guess I am not 21 more and I am forced now to exercise AND watch what I eat!! Weight loss SUCKS when you get older!
FYI.. I joined a "biggest loser" type contest therefore the person at the end of three months who loses the most % of body weight wins the jackpot, which is currently $300!! Talking about Christmas shopping for myself!
Anyway, you ladies in the contest need not worry about this contestant... I can't control my need for sweet bread!!
I should be able to get a really good workout in tomorrow because it is Jacob's day off. He and Nevaeh usually go have breakfast some where alone together.. super sweet!!

Wednesday
Nevaeh and I have not been up to much lately. We went to the gym this morning after babysitting my nephew, Jason. I have been working so hard to lose these last 15 pounds... these are actually not the extra pounds I put on from pregnany they are the extra pounds I put on after getting hitched... three years ago! Anyway, we also took a trip to Costco and used up my $35 credit!! I only ended up spending $6... THAT HAS NEVER HAPPEND! She is currently taking a nap so my fingers are moving as fast as they can to get out of her room before the sound of the keyboard wakes her up.
Okay... well I took these pictres of Nevaeh yesterday and I HAD to convert them into black and white because I swear I am going to buy a nice frame to put them in (I have been saying that since she was born!!) and hang it some where!!
I am off to start dinner...

Weekend
It has been a few days since I have updated our blog but not much has happened... I guess that is good and bad!! We didn't get anything done yesterday because it was so miserably HOT! I didn't know what to do to cool us down. Nevaeh and I took three cold showers yesterday, which helped a little but before we knew it we were sticky and sweaty again. I let Nevaeh "swim" in her little pool outside with COLD water and she loved it. I was wishing the pool was just a little bigger so I could jump in with her! She had a lot of fun splashing around in the sun. Jacob brought the camera out yesterday and took about 20 pictures of her because she kept posing and asking him to take a picture... until he was going to take the last picture she put her hand up and said "no more daddy", we were cracking up because she was acting like he was begging her to have her picture taken... what a character!
OH... I almost forgot, Nevaeh had her 2-year check up on Friday and she finally made it into the percentile charts. She is in the 90% for height 35 1/4 inches and 90% for weight 31 1/2 pounds. We heard that if you double the height at 2 years you can guesstimate what the height will be at adulthood, if that is true Nevaeh will be about 5'10 1/2, not bad at all!! The doctor said she is completely healthy but she did scold me for not caring for Nevaeh's eczema properly. I know I am at fault because I really don't like taking medication and I don't like giving it to my baby!!! I assumed (incorrectly) that I had her eczema under control so I didn't bother putting the steroid medication on it. Turns out the doctor sad she was having a bad flare up, which could have been prevented if I was using the meds!! I felt really guilty because my poor baby has been scratching the cr*p out of her arms and I have been looking the other way! But I promised to take care of it ASAP. It is Sunday today... only two days of medication application... and she already looks better! I am not familiar with eczema at all but what I have been exposed to is my niece and nephew and they have severe cases of it so when I saw Nevaeh's I assumed she was just fine.
We are going to try to get ready and head out to the beach. I am going to pack lunch for all of us and have Nevaeh run around for a while (just enough to tire her out for nap time!!). Did I mention that she didn't get up until 11 today!!! Yet you read it correctly she was knocked out until 11... and the only reason she woke up is because I opened up her door and Kona was barking at the DirecTV installer!! She took a 3-hour nap yesterday too... the heat must have just worn her out.
So I sent out 3 applications last week to work for the county... all three are pretty good jobs especially if I can stay here in North County. I hope they call me back soon... but Jacob said they won't call for at least another month or so... I have been home for over a year and a half (much longer that I could have ever imagined!!) but now I think it is time to get a "paying" job to help my honey out. I think/hope I will be working by the beginning of next year so I need to really take advantage of these last few months with my baby!!! The thought of leaving Nevaeh in a daycare or preschool ALL DAY and only getting to see her for a few moments in the morning and a few hours at night really scares and saddens me!! I know I have been extremely lucky and blessed to be home as long as I have been but I guess I am selfish because I want MORE!!

Allergies
Today is my mama's birthday. She is currently in Mexico, where my parents live 1/2 the year. I must admit it is difficult having her so far away but it has helped me grow up very quickly. After being the baby of the family and living at home in L.A. for 24 years it was difficult moving an hour and a half away but I really think it has helped me and Jacob blossom as a couple and parents... but I digress... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY!!!
I am not feeling too well today. I have been sneezing and I feel extremely congested so it must be my allergies acting up!! I decided as soon as I woke up that there will be no gym for me today but I did take Nevaeh to the Y for a swim. Needless to say, I HATED IT and I can't wait for school to begin (next week!). Our friends, Judy and Molly, have discussed these issues at length but it truly is horrible!! I kind of understand the kids in the YMCA camp acting up by why are so many mothers just hanging out chatting on the lounge chairs and not watching their kids. For some reason those mothers think that since their kids are with other kids they will naturally behave well THEY DON'T!! I think the Y should post some kind of sign asking mothers to please watch their own children!! Luckily for me, Nevaeh was ready to leave after an hour so I was only aggravated for about 30 minutes. Nevaeh is such a cutie, she doesn't notice that other kids are being too rough, so when they bump into her she just says "oh, sorry", like she did something wrong and that gets me even more mad!! Which reminds me...
Yesterday when I was watching my 3-year-old nephew, he decided he wanted to sit in Nevaeh's little sofa while Nevaeh was sitting on it. I told Nevaeh that she needed to share her seat with her cousin after thinking about it for a second she got up so he could sit down. Well, a little later he did not feel like sharing either of the two toys, which he was hiding from Nevaeh. Nevaeh followed him around the house begging him to share with her, she was saying "share, pleeze". After a while, I asked him to please share and he refused. The more I tried to distract Nevaeh the more she wanted the toy (and I think he enjoyed watching her cry over it)... before I knew it he threw one of the toys at her and it hit her in the chest. First thing she said was "ouch" the next thing she said was "oh, Jason, thanks for sharing"!! I was so upset. I made Jason sit down until he was ready to apologize!! I didn't want to over react but that was just RUDE!
Well I need to take some medication for my allergies because I need to feel better for Judy's monthly cooking club!! Come to think of it... I don't even know what I am taking! I need to get my wheels turning!!

The weekend
The pictures are of Nevaeh and my niece, Nikki, went for a bike ride with Jacob. Nevaeh loved it!! We need to get a bike like that!!
Are you kidding me!! The weekend is over? It feels like it should be Saturday morning not Monday.
On Saturday we went to L.A. for my nieces 16th birthday party. Nevaeh really wanted to go to her friend Alanna's 2nd birthday party but unfortunately we had a traffic filled LONG drive to L.A. so we were unable to go. My niece’s party was interesting but mostly uneventful. My sister's boyfriend invited his drunk friends to the BBQ. We left L.A. around 9:30 p.m. and talked about the BBQ all the way home (the drive felt really short). When we got home Nevaeh was completely asleep but we assumed she would be up and running around when we got her out of the car. We were preparing ourselves for a tossing and turning 2 year old in our bed that night BUT surprisingly she woke up for a second when Jacob got her out of the car but that was it!! Jacob put her in her bed and she stayed there!! What a big girl... she must have been exhausted.
On Sunday, we woke up and went to church. We took Nevaeh to the child Care/Sunday School for toddlers and she cried when we left but they didn't call us the entire time. FYI, at New Venture they give your children numbers and if they cry or need to get picked up from they childcare they flash your number up on a screen during the service. Jacob and I were so proud of her. That evening we watched part of the Charger game (they lost by the way) then went to the DQ for some ice cream, which was FANTABULOUS and worth every calorie.
This morning Jacob woke me up at 7 a.m. because he heard my phone ringing and he thought it was ringing in Nevaeh's room (it was actually ringing in the garage!). Anyway, I went into Nevaeh's room at about 7:30 because according to Jacob I needed to get my phone out of there. As I slowly opened the door... I looked over at Nevaeh's crib and I hear... "hi, mommy, goo moning"... SHE WAS UP!! I was okay with it because she woke up in such good spirits. I was supposed to go on a playdate to the park and work out with other mommies but my nephew and nieces grandma called and asked me to watch the kdis because she needed to run some errands. I said yes without thinking about he playdate I had planned, oh well. Nevaeh loves playing with her cousins so she definitely doesn't mind.
Too cute
Well today is Jacob's day off (he has every payday Friday off), and so far we have done A LOT this morning. He acutally got up early walked the dog and cleaned the kitchen... I would marry him all over again just for that!! Then we sat down TOGETHER to pay the bills... this was a first for me but it wasn't as stressful as I thought it would be.
Anyway, I had to share these pictures!! The first is from yesterday, Jacob came home for lunch because I "didn't have time" to pack it last night (actually I was too lazy), so Nevaeh helped me make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She had such a good time making it. As you can imagine she had jelly in her hair and peanut butter all the way up to her elbows because she stuck her whole arm into the jar!! After completing the sandwich she took a bite out of it then I reminded her that it was for her daddy then she spit it out and put it back on the plate... cute huh!
The second is from last week... Nevaeh loves putting on makeup when she sees me doing it. I usually try to sneak into another room and she forgets about it... but this time I decided to give in and let her play. She was so surprised she looked at me and said... "thank you sharing", I almost died it was so cute!! To get her to stop I asked her if she wanted ice cream, she quickly closed to powder case and said "this mommy's, Vee-nah, want I keem (ice cream)". (On a side note, she started calling herself Vee-nah for some reason, we call her Vaeh but I guess she couldn't say it so now we call her Vee-nah too).
Well, I need to get myself dress and get ready to burn a few calories at the gym!

Last Night
Last nigth Nevaeh had a little bit of a break down! Jacob couldn't put her down until 9:45 p.m. because she NEEDED her blanket which mommy forgot to put in the drier!! Anyway once he finished with her bed time routine she began crying because she wanted to kiss and hug Kona (our 5 pound Pomeranian) good night. After about 30 minutes of crying... mommy couldn't take it anymore, so I went in to see what was wrong. She immediately got up and said "mommy, watch chee bee (TV)", it broke my heart and I did the unthinkable... I GOT HER OUT OF HER CRIB AND BROUGHT HER OUT WITH US TO WATCH TV! Okay, before you all pass judgement on me, my reasoning was that she RARELY has a fit when we put her down so obviously something was wrong... right?!?! Well Jacob gave me the same look you all probably have on your faces after reading that!! I finally took her back to bed when we were done watching TV AT 11. Her bed time routine took a little longer than usual because she didn't want to go to bed but finally at around 11:30 ish I walked out of her room!
Due to last nights events we were unable to make it to our 11 am pool playdate we had scheduled today in Escondido. Nevaeh didn't wake up until 10:10 a.m., I didn't know what to do with myself all morning long without my baby.
Well I got to go because today is "clean the house day"... I need to count that as my workout for the day!!
Dinner last night
Last night was supposed to be boys night (Jacob, his brother and father go out to dinner once a month) but Jason, Jacobs brother could not make it. Instead of canceling boys night all together my mother in law, Nevaeh and I decided to join Jacob and my father in law. We had dinner at Islands, which by the way was FABULOUS, and then sat around laughing for about an hour. I realized yesterday that not only do I love my in laws... I really like them. My father in law is so funny and honest and my mother in law could not be any more caring, supportive and loving. It is no surprise that Jacob is such a wonderful man, husband and father. I am one lucky girl and Nevaeh is not only lucky bust she is also loved beyond belief and very spoiled.
Okay, well Nevaeh and I need to get moving... we need to make our way to Trader Joe's and to Frasier Farms for a few items! No gym for me today so I need to really watch what I eat and try to go for a jog with Nevaeh later in the evening. I have been doing pretty well and really sticking to a workout routine and eating quite well.

Adding Pictures
Well, I was so excited about getting into this whole blogging thing but now I am completely frustrated!! I have no idea what I am doing wrong but I can not add "an element" to my blog. The only way I can seem to add any pictures is to add it to my post.. so that is what I will do for now. Everyone seems to have really cute pictures down the side of their page but I can not figure it out!
I am posting pictures of Nevaeh at Disneyland.
Anyway, we haven't got much done today. Nevaeh and I went to the Y, I got a nice work out in and Nevaeh had fun playing and coloring at the child care. Boy do I love the Y child care!! They are so friendly and seem to really care about the kids... but most importantly Nevaeh feels comfortable there and that is priceless.
I got to go because I need to put Nevaeh down for a nap and I need to take a quick shower!
p.s. I am highly considering returning to the work force... wow, I actually typed it out and didn't cry, that is an improvement! More on that later!
1st post
Well I don't know where to start nor do I know what to say but here goes nothing... Today is offically our last day of our week long vacation and I could not be any sadder!! We have had such a blast relaxing and waking up late. Last Monday was our 3 year anniversary, so we went out to a restaurant in Long Beach and had a wonderful dinner alone while my in-laws watched Nevaeh. It was really nice to hang out with Jacob like a couple not like parents... it's been a long time since we were able to eat our food at our own pace without having to scarf it down because we needed to leave before Nevaeh needed to get out of her chair!
The next few days were spent at the happiest place on earth... DISNEYLAND. Needless to say Nevaeh had a ball. She got on every ride she could and was dead tired by the time we got back to our hotel. I couldn't believe how amazing it was to see everything for the first time thru Nevaeh. Watching her look at Cinderella with amazment and wave at Mickey and Minnie and truely believe they were waving back at her made me get all teary eyed! She was so excited to see everything and couldn't wait to twirl around in her skirt and say "wook it mommy, C'rella" ("look it mommy, Cinderella").
Thursday thru Sunday we spent in our friends timeshare in Carlsbad. We were lucky enough to wake up and face the beautiful ocean every morning. Nevaeh walked into the timeshare and said "oh, cute", she obvioiusly approved.
The funny thing about our vacation is that we were planning to wait until Nevaeh was older so she could "really" enjoy Disneyland or until she could "remember it" but I couldn't be more grateful for the memories. We were able to see everything for the first time thru our little ones eyes!
Can't wait for our next vacation!!
